Tour Plan
Expand allCollapse allDay 1 - Drin Canyon
During a ferry trip from Koman to Fierze, we are mesmerized by the romantic Drin Canyon with its sheer limestone cliffs. Then we travel to the Valbona Valley. This valley - as Albanians say - is the most beautiful in Albania. (Shkodra-Koman 1.5 hours, Ferry Koman-Fierze 2 hours, Fierze-Valbone 1 hour).
Day 2 - View from Mount Jezerca
Via a shepherd's path, we ascend to a viewpoint at 1,700 m (hiking time: about 6 hours, +/- 760 m), from where we can enjoy a breathtaking view of the highest peaks of the Albanian Alps: Mount Jezerca (2,695 m) and Mount Rosi (2,522 m).
Day 3 - Towards Theth
Today, we ascend to the Valbona Pass (1,860 m). Our luggage is transported by horses. Then, we descend to Theth (hiking time: about 7 hours, + 900 m, - 1,150 m).
Day 4 - Peak of Peja
The peak of Peja (1,710 m) is situated amidst the "Cursed Mountains". The path is actually an ancient trade route leading to Montenegro. After the strenuous ascent to the peak, we enjoy an incredible view of the entire Theth Valley (hiking time: about 7 hours, +/- 900 m).
Day 5 - From Theth to Nderlysaj
Along a hike (hiking time: about 5 hours, +/- 350 m), we acquaint ourselves with the natural beauties around Theth. We visit the isolation tower and the water spring. Then we proceed to Nderlysaj.
Day 6 - Peak of Thore
We hike through the wild, beautiful Kaprea Valley up to the Thore Peak (1,700 m). Once again, the Albanian Alps reveal themselves in all their grandeur (hiking time: about 4 hours, + 1,300 m, - 130 m). Then, a bus picks us up and takes us back to Shkodra.
